Introducing my newest nephew, Everett Mckinley! My youngest, Jude, was so excited to meet his new “baby brother cousin” and suggested that my sister name him Mr. Baby. Don’t let that grumpy face fool you – he is a sweetheart!
Isn’t she lovely?!?!
Taylor is a beautiful, talented senior with an exciting future ahead of her! She is a talented musician and athlete and a genuinely sweet girl! Her parents are so proud!
A few months ago, I tackled one of the many stashes of clutter in my house and came across something terrifying. My junior high yearbooks. I dusted off the covers and took a very scary trip down memory lane. There are times of my life that I would be glad to relive, but the idea of revisiting my tween years is scarier than taking all 8 kids to Walmart for a month’s worth of groceries.
Looking back, I remember feeling awkward, insecure, and uncomfortable in my own skin. I mentioned that to my friends, and they all confessed to having felt the very same way growing up. So, I talked to my younger daughter, Juliana, to see how she is dealing with the tween years herself.
When I look at JuJu, I see a beautiful, intelligent young lady with amazing curls, an incredible smile, and a sweet heart. Sadly, she doesn’t see the same. She was struggling with the same insecurities that I had experienced at her age. It broke my heart.
I was lying awake that night thinking about what I could do to help show JuJu how beautiful she is. The next morning, I put my plan into motion.
We took a day and went shopping for clothes that would flatter her and photograph well. I talked to my stylist about what I was planning, and set a time to get JuJu’s hair styled and light make-up done. And the day came. She loved getting pampered and we both loved the results. It was cold and windy, but we braved the weather and had her session outside like we planned. The process itself was a wonderful experience and created memories we will both treasure.
I resisted the urge to let her see the photos as I worked on them. I edited her photos and ordered her a photo book with my favorite images. The smile she got when she looked at that book was worth every moment of work! As she showed it to her friends, I saw a confidence that I had not seen in a long time.
I realized I had to give other parents an opportunity have the same experience with their daughters and granddaughters.
That opportunity will be coming next month during Spring Break! On March 15 ,17 ,19, & 20, I will be holding special Terrific Tween Sessions so that you can show the girl in your life how beautiful she is.
These sessions include a 60 minute session and 16×20 collage for only $98. For an additional $40, I will add in a hair and make-up session for your daughter that will help her enhance her natural beauty while learning about using make-up to subtly emphasize her best features.
I will be offering a very limited number of sessions, so don’t miss out! Book now at https://directory.bookedin.com/laughter-and-love-photography.
I’m a little late in posting, but I couldn’t resist sharing! Deundria & Corey had a beautiful winter wonderland themed wedding at the Cook Center at Navarro College. Their wedding was a photographer’s dream – a gorgeous bride, a lovely location, and most importantly, everyone was fabulous to work with and super friendly! By the time the wedding was over, I felt like part of the family!
Deundria and Corey have a sweet love story. They started dating in high school and never looked back! They both have hearts to serve others and have chosen careers that reflect that – Deundria is a nurse and Corey is starting his career in law enforcement.
Their wedding day was a beautiful winter day! The sun was shining and it was pleasantly warm. It was one of those days that makes you love living in Texas!
I absolutely loved their decorations. The flowers were gorgeous, the color scheme was elegant, and the cocoa bar was a brilliant blend of fun and sophistication.
One of the highlights of the reception was Deundria’s dance with her dad. It started out very sweet and traditional. Then, the music changed and they launched into pure fun with Gangnum Style. You couldn’t help but smile!
I had such a fantastic time documenting Deundria and Corey’s big day! It was a true privilege to share it with them and help them capture their memories for the rest of their life together!
One of my favorite things about being a photographer is meeting new people and this family was no exception! While we didn’t have the whole family there, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to capture the three that were there together. What a sweet, kind, God-loving family! Working with them was a true delight!
I have been super busy the last few months and just realized I completely forgot to blog anything! Oops! It’s going to be an active week around here!
I got to work with Andrew & Lacy at a completely new location, the Waco suspension bridge. It was a lovely spot, a gorgeous afternoon, and a delightful couple!
